SEPTEMBER 14 – SPEAKER CENK OZDEMIR
This will be a special meeting. Our speaker will be Cenk Ozdemir. He is a young high school student who was trapped in a building collapse during the earthquake in Turkey. Cenk is at Shriners Hospital being fitted for a prosthetic arm. His grandfather was a long time Rotarian and he is close friends with the current Rotarian president in Antakya, Turkey. He lost his mother in the earthquake and is accompanied by his aunt. Cenk will be speaking about the earthquake and how Rotary International was on the ground and helping. Please join us in welcoming Cenk.
ANNUAL DUES
Annual dues bills will be coming in your mailbox. The dues are still $200. We have added the recommended donations for Polio Plus and Rotary Foundations for those who want to pay for everything once a year. If you prefer a monthly charge to your credit card, just let us know and we will set it up for you.
SERVICE PROJECTS
The third Thursday every month we serve the homeless at the Worcester St Shelter. It is a great time and everyone appreciates the time we spend down there. If you can only give a half hour rather than an hour, come on down. Please let Ahsas know if you are coming ahsasmalik1@gmail.com
We are also starting to collect children’s winter coats for the asylum seekers that have come to Western Massachusetts. Most of them are from Haiti and the winters will be especially hard for them. Drop the coats off at 199 Tanglewood Dr. Longmeadow or bring them to a meeting.
