Dear Rotarians and Friends,
We have a lot to be thankful for. Your commitment to "Service Above Self" is evident every time our club works on a service project, collects funds for a worthy cause, or does something as simple as donating gifts for kids this holiday season.
We had a fabulous Holiday Party last Friday. I want to acknowledge and thank Carla Alves and Karen Blanchard for putting it together. Also, a big thanks to Carla's daughter, Sam Alves, for not only helping to set up the place but also for helping us drop off gift donations at the Gray House. A shout-out to my mother-in-law, Rita Hogan, for also joining us in dropping off gift donations (photo below).
This week, our meeting will be at the Service Above Self Luncheon, which is now sold out. I am happy to see that many of you will be attending. This is one of our biggest events and fundraiser. I will have the honor of calling the meeting to order and bestowing the 2022 Springfield Rotary Paul Harris Lifetime Achievement Award to Jack Toner in front of 400 expected attendees.
Jack has held various roles in The Springfield Rotary Club over the past 11 years. He began serving on the Board of Directors in 2012 as a director and then worked his way up to Club President for the 2015-2016 Rotary Year. After serving as Club President, Jack became Chair of the Foundation committee with the aid of long-time Rotarian, Dene Kimball.
Our next Rotary Meeting will be on January 6th at noon. Our guest speaker is Megan Lemay from the Alzheimer's Association. We will start to take attendance at all the meetings in the new year. We will make sure to provide access via ZOOM for those of you who are unable to join due to health concerns.
