Dear Fellow Rotarians, I hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather and are having a good week. We had a great meeting last Friday with Tim Wilkerson, President of the New England Cable and Telecommunications Association (NECTA). Tim was able to help demystify what is currently going on in the Cable and Telecommunications industry. We had a few laughs as Tim explained what “G” is related to 5G and 10G and their implications for emerging sectors such as telemedicine, robotics, and autonomous vehicles. It’s a brave new world out there!
This Friday our speaker will be George O’Brien, editor at BusinessWest, our region’s premier business publication. George has more than 30 years experience as a writer and editor and will talk about what’s happening in the business community in and around Springfield. Please invite a guest to join you.
Our club’s Paul Harris/Service Grants Awards Dinner is Tuesday, June 18th at LaQuinta Inn in Springfield from 5:15p.m-8:00 p.m. Tickets are $40 and can be ordered online or at a Friday meeting. Our club will be awarding a Paul Harris Award(s) and giving away $10,000 in grants to area non-profits. You won’t want to miss it. See the bulletin for more details.

Dene Kimball could use a little help with displaying our Rotary flags at meetings (as Richard Fulkerson is doing in the attached photo). Dene is planning some extended vacation time soon and would like a few Rotarians to volunteer and put up the flags while he’s away (or give him a break now and then). The flags are stored at Max’s and only take a few minutes to put up or take down. Please talk to Dene about helping out. And thank you for your participation in helping to display our flags!
Do you have some news or information that might be of interest to fellow Rotarians? Please send it to Gillian Palmer at gpalmer@baypath.edu by Monday of each week for inclusion. Our weekly Bulletin goes out to more than 70 local leaders every week and is a wonderful way to spread your message. Subject to approval.
Did you know you can easily reach the Rotarian Magazine, Rotary International, the District website and our own club website right from this bulletin? Well, you can! Just check out the links under "ROTARY ONLINE" on your left.
