Joy Guay, AuD, CCC-A, FAAA, an audiologist with the Willie Ross School for the Deaf will address our Springfield Rotary Club's luncheon meeting this Friday, February 3rd. Her topic will be ”Hearing Loss”.

 

Dr. Guay received a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from the University of New Hampshire in 1998, a Master of Arts in Audiology from the University of Massachusetts in 2001 and a Doctorate degree in Audiology from the University of Florida in 2005.

 

Dr. Guay holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology form the American Speech and Hearing Association and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. Guay holds a license in Audiology in the state of Massachusetts and has 14 years of experience in Audiology. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss in patients of all ages. She also specializes in hearing aid fittings and hearing aid programming.   Please invite a guest to listen (and hear) this very interesting speaker.

The Club's Facebook page has been revived, after a period of inactivity, thanks to new Club member Alicia Garcia, District Executive of the Boy Scouts of America who recently joined our Club.  Alicia is listing stories of interest from our web page and Club Bulletin to the popular social media venue to further spread the news, and interest in Rotary.

Students from Israel and Palestine sat together at a local art studio in Encinitas, California, USA, one day last summer, drawing portraits of one another and learning how to live in peace. Every year, Hands of Peace brings students to Chicago, Illinois, and San Diego, California, USA, to join local youths from various religious backgrounds for 18 days of dialogue and team-building exercises. Rotary members host the students, organize activities like the art workshop, and lend financial support.

The regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Springfield Board of Directors, normally held the second Wednesday of the month has been postponed, due to a date and time conflict with this winter’s Pre-PETS (President Elect Training, District Presidents quarterly meeting and the District Grants workshop---all happening next Wednesday morning at the Enfield Holiday Inn in Enfield, CT.  Four members of our Board will be in attendance: President Rick Lee, President-Elect Jack Toner and grants application members Maryanne Herron and Dene Kimball.
