Thank you to those who paid your dues. In researching where exactly our dues go. In addition to funding our own club operations and the district operations, the remainder is sent Rotary International. Rotary International(RI) operates within budget and has built a surplus ahead of a goal set several years ago. The goal of the surplus was to help offset a need for future large dues increases. Rather than reducing services to stay within budget, RI shifted to a greater use of technology and invested carefully to keep dues at an affordable level. Although dues from clubs account for 65% of the RI budget, the next largest source of income is return on investment. This financial discipline allows the focus to be proactive growth of the organization at RI. Thank you to Jim Russell, Doug MacMillan, Lucie Lewis, Michelle Booth, Fannie Lin, Rick Keating, Valerie Dulude, Sarah Tsitso, Jay Leib, Mike Tarby, Mike Kelley, Bob Agnoli for their recent dues payments.
The fiscal discipline of Rotary International also helps to drive a healthy foundation, the vehicle for Rotary’s global impact. The Rotary Foundation is able to put a majority of funds it receives back into grants at the district or global level. The impact of the foundation to advance peace and understanding is wide reaching. The ripple effect of clean water and access to sanitation, nutrition food and education have help reduce as well as prevent conflict around the world.

A paper dues invoice was sent as a follow up to our electronic one last week. As a Rotarian, I am proud to be able to say organization is the among the best managed non-profit organizations allowing the majority of your dues to Rotary International supports service in the form of District Grants or Global Grants to advance peace and understanding through various in the world. The Foundation meets the 20 standards for charity accountability set by the Better Business Bureau's Wise Giving Alliance and is a silver-level GuideStar Exchange Participant, demonstrating its commitment to transparency.
I am looking forward to presenting Ellen Freyman with the Member Recruitment Recognition bronze pin backer on September 18 for her sponsorship of new member Samir Patel. The bronze pin backer symbolizes the second new member Ellen has sponsored this year. In addition, Dr. Mary Anne Herron will receive a blue backer for her club pin for bringing Ellen Moorhouse into our club.
