Hunter Golden, Vice President/General Manager of the Valley Blue Sox will address the Springfield Rotary Club's luncheon meeting on Friday, May 8th
. His topic will be “A General Overview of the Valley Blue Sox”.
Golden enters his second season as the General Manager of the Blue Sox. Golden brings a unique combination of marketing and baseball experience to the table having run both a marketing consultancy for the past five years as well as writing about sabermetrics and the Boston Red Sox for ESPN.com <http://ESPN.com> ’s Sweet Spot Network. As a marketing consultant, Golden worked with prominent brands such as Citi, Home Shopping Network, A&E, Children’s Friend and Family Services and Blackboard. As a baseball analyst, he has appeared frequently on 98.5 The Sports Hub, WEEI and ESPN’s weekly MLB power rankings.
The Valley Blue Sox play their home opening game on Thur 6/4 at 6:30 p.m.The stadium is located at 500 Beech Street, Holyoke, MA.
100th Anniversary Celebration will NOT feature a reprise of the 34th Anniversary festivities of 1948.
Eighty people have registered for this year's milestone event, with more responses coming in daily.
Given the historic nature of our Club reaching the Century mark, the invitation list is much broader than normal, including friends, past members, members of surrounding Clubs and our Rotary District 7890 as well as other Rotary VIPs. Plans for the evening call for good food, drink and company in the beautiful setting of the nearly 100-year-old Colony Club, a steady supply of memories in the form of pictures from the Club's past, and video interviews recently recorded at WGBY- Public Television, some of which will air as a segment on the local program "Connecting Point."

President Rick Lee (l) and Valerie Dulude (r) Rotary Sponsor, welcome Eliza Crescentini, Executive Director for Children Study Home. Eliza is the newest member inducted into the Rotary Club of Springfield on May 1st.
Crescentini joined CSH in April, 2003 and has extensive experience in both nonprofit and for-profit leadership. She resides in Holyoke with her husband and six children.

Sue Mastroiani is interviewed by 22News Reporter Sy Becker on April 17th about the pivotal role of women in the history of the Rotary Club of Springfield. Women first entered the ranks of our Club in 1998 when Sister Mary Caritas and Rev. Ann Geer became the first women inducted to membership. Since then, women have served in a variety of roles, including committee chairs, board members and, on several occasions, as president.
Springfield Rotarian Sujing Yang and Hampden County Sheriff Michael Ashe will receive Paul Harris Fellow Awards at the 100th Anniversary Celebration of Service of the Rotary Club of Springfield on May 20th at the Colony Club in downtown Springfield.
Our Club will also award ten $1,000 grants to small local charities and three Rotary Youth Leadership (RYLA) scholarships to an all-day Rotary leadership training for you people set fot Springfield College in June of this year. Approximately 150 Rotarians and community leaders are expected to attend the cocktail and hors d'ouevres event to be held from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Tickets are $50 and proceeds will benefit future Rotary Service grants and work in the community.
