In Person and Virtual Meeting

Friday, August 20th Meeting
at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame

MEETING TIME: 12:00-1:30pm

Guest Speaker- Veronica Garcia

Veronica García is a Latina entrepreneur that came to this country 20 years ago. As many of our invitees here, she arrived full of dreams and the desire to develop a career in her field, communications. As an undocumented immigrant, her path was not easy, but those obstacles shaped her character. All the No's that she got were the fuel for her to reach her goals. From a dishwasher to an international lecturer, entrepreneur, community leader and awarded communicator, Veronica knows that everyone deserves an opportunity to shine and contribute to our community.

Volunteering has been what has opened the doors for Veronica. Today, she is the founder of the Viviendo Sin Límites. This organization promotes awareness of mental health issues and has a goal to provide professional advice from experts. The digital program will also promote local figures, politicians, philanthropists, business owners, and so forth. Next month, Univision Hartford will broadcast all the content of Viviendo Sin Límites platform.

Support Rotary Foundation

Three ways to support our Rotary Foundation

Every November, we celebrate The Rotary Foundation. Your support and generous gifts to the Foundation make it possible for us to be people of action and engage in life-changing projects worldwide. Here are three ways you can help maximize the effectiveness of our year-end giving campaigns and increase the amount of good we can do:
  1. Encourage your members to make a gift to the Foundation on Giving Tuesday, which is 1 December. Share our video message
  2. Give the gift of Rotary this holiday season. Share our digital flyer with members and potential donors.
  3. Learn more about our new peer-to-peer fundraising tool, Raise for Rotary, where you can create fundraising pages that are easy to share with family and friends through social media and email.

President’s Message

Thank you for your continued commitment to the Rotary Club of Springfield. Your support is vital to the life health and strength of our club. This week I want to thank Marie Angelides for her hard work and dedication. Marie has taken the lead to ensure that we are in full compliance and able to do the charitable work of the Rotary. We truly appreciate all her efforts.

Alicia Garcia and the Grants Review Committee completed their work last week. We look forward to the Paul Harris and Community Grant Celebration on September 21st, 2021, 5:30 P.M. at Twin Hills Country Club. Order your tickets today on our website.
The news of the Earthquake in Haiti challenges our hearts and minds. Now is the time to consider supporting first responder organizations like the Salvation Army, Red Cross, AmeriCares as they take the lead as the first responders along with the local Fire, Ambulance and Law enforcement Departments. After the damages are assessed, Rotary normally becomes part of the rebuilding efforts.
I look forward to seeing each of you on Friday August 20, 2021.
