President's Message

Bert Carter

It was a lot of fun getting together this week for a Zoom Cocktail Hour.  We heard some fun stories about people’s travels and interesting places they have been.  It was a great opportunity for fellowship and to learn more about each other.  This is something we might not have done if it were not for the current situation.  We need some silver linings and this was one.  Thank you, Jack Toner, for organizing this event.  Look for more information on future events.

Our District Governor elect, Mark Glass, joined us at last week’s meeting with some updates from the district.  It was nice to hear that our club was ahead of the curve on converting to an online meeting.  The district will be following suit converting upcoming events to an online platform.  We will continue to have speakers at upcoming meetings.  Look for emails from John Perez with invitations to the weekly meetings on Zoom.

I hope to see many of you on Friday.

In Fellowship and Service,

Bert

PERSONAL PREVENTION TIPS

Many of the things you do to help prevent colds and the flu can help protect you against other respiratory viruses, including COVID-19:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Clean things that are frequently touched (like doorknobs and countertops) with household cleaning spray or wipes.
  • Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. Use a tissue or your inner elbow, not your hands.

DPH Public Health Advisory: Stay-at-Home Advisory

This DPH Public Health Advisory is issued to provide guidance regarding Stay-at-Home and Safe Practices.  The purpose is to take strong action to reduce the potential exposure to COVID-19 to those instances for basic food, health and well-being and for the provision of our essential services.  Everyone in Massachusetts has an important role to play to slow the transmission of this virus.  Every instance of potential exposure that can be eliminated is an important step for that individual and for our community.
