President's Message
Sue Mastroianni
January 18, 2019

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

We had a lively club assembly last Friday. There was a lot of discussion about our March FUNdraiser - a “Calendar raffle”. What is it? How it works? In a little over a week we have almost 75% of the raffle prizes necessary to get the page printed. Hopefully by the time you read this, we will have reached our goal of collecting all 31 raffle prizes. Please consider donating or soliciting a donation prize if you haven’t already.

Jack Toner is winding down the Foundation drive and is looking for 100% participation in RI Foundation giving this year!  Give what you can - $5, $25, $50 or more. You can make your donation online or give Jack a check on Friday. Donations can also be mailed to our PO Box 1033 Springfield, MA 01101. Every donation counts!

This Friday Dr. Harry E. Dumay, Ph.D., MBA, President of Elms College will be our speaker. Come and find out what exciting things are going on at the Elms!

Looking forward to seeing you!

MARCH CALENDAR FUNDRAISER

We had a fun club assembly last Friday, discussing the Who’s and What’s of how the calendar raffle will work. We are fortunate to have so many members step up and either donate prizes or solicit donations – thank you to John Perez, Rick Lee, Alan Popp, Bert Carter, Maurice Powe, Samalid Hogan, Bernie Spirito, MaryAnne Herron, Paul Lambert, Jack Toner, Lucie Lewis, Michael Cooley, Lamont Clemons, Laurie Rosner, Gillian Palmer and Rowland Hawthorne! We need a few more prizes so please keep the donations coming! Once we have 31 prizes we can have the page printed and then start selling!!!! We can easily raise $5,000 if every member sells a minimum of 10 pages (at $10 each). All monies raised with benefit The Service Fund. The more money we raise; the more money we can give away to area non-profits this Spring.

 March Calendar Raffle Rules
What Is It?  A Calendar Raffle is a fundraiser where The Springfield Rotary Club sells special calendars to our supporters.

How Does it Work? Businesses sponsor each day on the calendar and donate gift cards, products or services. All of the calendars sold are entered in the raffle jar so that a person has up to 31 chances to win (31 days in the month of March). Names will be pulled at each weekly March meeting

How Much Will it Cost? Calendars will be sold for $10 each.  The ultimate factor on how much we can make depends on how many calendars we can sell.  For example, if we sell 470 calendars (minimum 10 per member x 47 active members)  @ $10 each and all of the raffle items were donated, then we would raise $4,700 minus the cost of printing for the Service Fund. Of course, all members are encouraged to sell more than 10 calendars.

We need 31 prizes to fill the calendar.

We plan on printing a minimum of 500 calendars. Great exposure for businesses that donate a prize! Plus we will include all donors in our weekly Bulletin!

Can you solicit and/or donate a $25-$100 value Prize?
