We had a great meeting last week. I know I say that every week, but it’s true!!! The raffles were literally flying out of my hands LOL Seriously, I am so grateful to all our members who are buying, selling and asking for more than their original 10. We may need to print more if this keeps up! I am thrilled by everyone’s enthusiasm for this fundraiser. Even our snowbirds and honorary members are participating. I think you all deserve some sweet treats this Friday!
Our speakers last Friday, were Leslie Fisher-Katz, Executive Director of the Children’s Study Home and John Morse. It was interesting to hear how the agency has evolved in over 150 years.
This Friday, our speakers will be Maxine Stein and Sara Bedford from Jewish Family Services (JFS). Maxine and Sara will talk about immigration and refugee resettlement in the Greater Springfield area. An interesting and timely topic you won’t want to miss.
Wishing you all a wonderful Valentine’s Day with all the love (and chocolate) you deserve!
Hope to see you Friday!
Sue

National Caregiver Day is an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of our caring lives and to thank ourselves, not for being perfect, but for being the best caregivers we know how to be. (And to thank another caregiver, too!) . #NationalCaregiversDay
The raffles have all been distributed and I am excited at the enthusiasm members are showing for selling them. All members are being “encouraged” to sell or buy a minimum of 10 raffles at $10 each and many members have requested more! We have over $1,900 in prizes and these raffles have proven easy to sell with all the great prizes!
Club members have been split into 3 Teams – Team Sue, Team Bert and Team John. The team that sells the most raffles will earn a FREE raffle for each participant, plus bragging rights and other assorted goodies. Total raffles sold for each team will be announced at future meetings. All monies raised will go to our Service Fund. If you’re not sure which team you are on, please ask Sue, Bert or John or email Sue at samastro@comcast.net.
Tomorrow's speakers will be Maxine Stein and Sara Bedford from Jewish Family Services (JFS). Maxine and Sara will talk about immigration and refugee resettlement in the Greater Springfield area. An interesting and timely topic you won’t want to miss.

Last Week it was interesting to hear how the agency has evolved in over 150 years. The CSH was originally founded in April of 1865 as The Springfield Home for Friendless Women and Children. This organization was one of the first social service agencies in Massachusetts and was started by a broad group of religious leaders ‘to provide a temporary home for friendless and destitute women and children. While their name may have changed, their Mission remains dedicated to providing innovative and educational programs and services that strengthen children and families; empowering them to succeed at home, within the community, and throughout life.
