Dear Fellow Rotarians, I hope you all enjoyed the long, holiday weekend and last blast of summer. Wait, it’s still 90 degrees? Well, we are in New England so enjoy this weather while you can because we all know it will change.
And speaking of change, Max’s has asked our club if we could move our meeting to Thursday this week, due to a conflict they have with Enshrinement activities on Friday. Max’s has been very accommodating to our club with changes we’ve needed to make, so it is only fair that we returned the favor.
During the month of September, The Gray House is holding their 4th Annual “Fill the Plate, Feed a Family” challenge. See the Bulletin for more details and your chance to help out.
While the longer days of summer are always nice, Autumn in New England is something to be treasured. Kids go back to school, and we all seem ready for new beginnings. The air is crisp and the smell of apples and cinnamon fill the house. Pumpkins and mums start to make an appearance and of course we have The BIG E which means Fall has arrived! I’m looking forward to a lot of activity in our club with new members coming in and returning members catching up with each other.
Looking forward to seeing you at the Hall!
Yours Truly,
President Sue Mastroianni

This week's Rotary meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept 6th (instead of our usual Friday). Max's asked if we would switch "as a favor" due to a conflict they have with Enshrinement on Friday. How could we say no? Meeting will be the same time (12:15pm-1:30PM) same place (MassMutual room).
Please share this change with fellow Rotarians you see or speak with during the week.
Editor's Note: The speaker we had scheduled for Friday, Charlie Scott “Veteran’s Committee” Electee this year, is unable to join us this Thursday. Our luncheon speaker this week will be Teresa Liberti, Executive Director at The Gray House. Teresa joined the Gray House as ED in July of 2016 after seven years of volunteering there. Says Teresa, “I was so impressed after volunteering there by the people and services of The Gray House. It is a true community program in every sense. I am proud to be a part of the organization and work alongside our dedicated staff and volunteers to further the mission of The Gray House.” The Gray House has recently hired and revamped their Adult Education program which Teresa will talk about as well as their “Fill the Plate-Feed a Family” challenge currently going on this month.
The Gray House, a nonprofit organization in the North End of Springfield, is holding their fourth annual “Fill the Plate, Feed a Family Challenge,” an online fundraising initiative which runs from now through Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018. Throughout the month, participants are asked to:
Make a donation through razoo.com/FTP <razoo.com:FTP>
Post a photo of yourself with an empty plate and a link to the donation page on social media (see above picture of Teresa and Sr Jane from last year)
Tag @The Gray House, Inc and any friends you want to encourage to donate!
Since beginning this fundraising initiative in 2015, The Gray House has raised over $33,700 to support the food pantry operations. For more information, please visit their website at GrayHouse.org
Our club will be serving dinner at Friends of The Homeless on Thursday, September 6, 2018, from 4:15-530PM. They are located at 755 Worthington St in Springfield. Those who have participated know what a rewarding experience it is. Hope to see you there.
