President's Message

Bert Carter

It has been heartening to see that in spite of the difficult time we are experiencing, our club continues to function.  Our Zoom meetings have been well attended and we are back to having guest speakers.  We had a great presentation last Friday from Tony Cignoli with lots of questions and lively discussion.  We have also added a Monday evening “cocktail” hour.  It has been a great opportunity for some additional fellowship in a time of isolation.   Rotary continues to be there for the community and for each other.

In that vein, our Rotary district will be sharing funds with each club in the district to support efforts to respond to the COVID-19 crisis.  Our board will be meeting soon to discuss how to use these funds along with our usual grant making.  We will keep you informed as we move through this process.

Please join us on Friday and Monday if you can.  Look for emails from John for the Friday meeting and Jack for the Cocktail Hour.  I hope to see many of you there.

In Fellowship and Service,

Bert

PERSONAL PREVENTION TIPS

Many of the things you do to help prevent colds and the flu can help protect you against other respiratory viruses, including COVID-19:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Clean things that are frequently touched (like doorknobs and countertops) with household cleaning spray or wipes.
  • Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. Use a tissue or your inner elbow, not your hands.

DPH Public Health Advisory: Stay-at-Home Advisory

This DPH Public Health Advisory is issued to provide guidance regarding Stay-at-Home and Safe Practices.  The purpose is to take strong action to reduce the potential exposure to COVID-19 to those instances for basic food, health and well-being and for the provision of our essential services.  Everyone in Massachusetts has an important role to play to slow the transmission of this virus.  Every instance of potential exposure that can be eliminated is an important step for that individual and for our community.
