As we move into the new year, we can look back on a successful calendar year for our club. We have had many successes to build on as 2020 begins.
It is also important to look ahead. This winter and spring will be very busy for our club. First up is our March Calendar Raffle. We need to start collecting prizes for the raffle. If you have a connection with a particular restaurant, service or other business that can provide a gift certificate or product for our raffle, now is the time to make that request. We want to have all our prizes in place by the end of January so we can start selling the calendars in February. Last year’s raffle was a big success. Let’s see if we can do even better this year.
There is still time to get in your Foundation gift for the year. You can make that gift online, mail a check or bring a check to a Friday meeting. The Foundation is at the core of what Rotary does. We will be looking to apply for a Foundation grant for our Cambodia project in the near future. It would be nice to go into that process with 100% participation from our members.
In May we will be having our third annual Chalk It Up, chalk art festival. The activity on the committee will be ramping up in the new year. Any assistance members can provide will go a long way to building on the success of this event. See chairman, Steve Jablonski to pitch in.
All of our fundraising efforts will culminate with our Annual Paul Harris Dinner in the late spring (date to be determined). At the dinner we will be awarding grants to local organizations who do important work in our communities. Supporting local non-profits is at the heart of our club’s mission. Your efforts to support our fundraising translate into support for the important work these organizations do. Last year we gave away $10,000 in grants. Let’s do even better this year.
Finally, none of this would be possible without fellowship. Coming to our meetings and events, and sharing fellowship with other members is key to building a club that makes a difference in the community. Come join us on Fridays and at the various events we have throughout the year.
We have begun collecting donations for our March raffle. Gift certificates, tickets, and prizes donated are being collected by our President Bert Carter. Please bring them to the meeting on Friday or contact Bert. This was a very successful fundraiser for our club last year. The funds raised allowed us to give away grants to local non-profit organizations.
Your generosity and participation are greatly appreciated!
