President's Message

Bert Carter

Monday January 20, we celebrate Martin Luther King Day.  Dr. King was a strong proponent of community service. To this day, his family encourages the holiday be used as a day of service.  In Rotary, we also talk about service to the community. Some of the ways our club serves include feeding the homeless, our Chalk It Up event which serves school children in the Greater Springfield area, our Service Fund, which provides grants to local nonprofits to do good works in the community, our Cambodia Water Project which provides clean water in rural Cambodia.  I am sure our members could list many more ways they serve, both through the club, through other organizations and on their own.

Our March Calendar Raffle will provide much needed dollars to our Service Fund and in turn to local nonprofits.  We create a ripple effect in the community, touching many lives and serving many segments of our communities. I am heartened by the response to date.  At this writing, we have 16 prizes for the raffle. That’s more than half way.

Remember, you can email me with prize information or bring a prize with you to Friday’s meeting.  Let’s fill the calendar and fill the coffers so we can give out even more grants this year.

In Service,

Bert

OUR MARCH CALENDAR RAFFLE

We have begun collecting donations for our March raffle. Gift certificates, tickets, and prizes donated are being collected by our President Bert Carter. Please bring them to the meeting on Friday or contact Bert. This was a very successful fundraiser for our club last year. The funds raised allowed us to give away grants to local non-profit organizations.

Your generosity and participation are greatly appreciated!
