Rotary Leadership Institute

Covid-19 may have disrupted our “normal” routines these past couple of years…. but we all know, Rotarians are far from “normal”!  Our Rotary Clubs have risen to the occasion to find new ways to meet, new ways to engage new members, new ways to fundraise….and new ways to learn more about Rotary!  What we all have missed are the opportunities to gather in-person to share ideas and expand our knowledge base of all things Rotary.

District 7950 will host Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) sessions in-person!  Please consider joining them on Saturday, March 26, 2022, 7:30 am – 3:00 pm at the Upper Cape Technical School in Bourne, MA.  Parts I, II, III and Graduate are all open for registration.  This year’s Graduate topic is the 7 Areas of Focus (remember, the Graduate topic changes every year, so you can continue to attend RLI to expand your Rotary knowledge).

Click here for curriculum and more information about RLI.  Registration is now open at www.rlinea.org - $75 includes breakfast, lunch, breaks and materials. Some clubs will reimburse tuition. For more information, contact Joanne Tully, D7950 RLI Site Chair at Jtully@southshorebank.com or Paulette Boudrot, RVC, at pauletteboudrot@gmail.com
We look forward to seeing old friends….and meeting new ones!

April 9th Service Project

Who Knew Making a Difference Could Be So Much Fun!

Join us on Saturday, April 9th in supporting the Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity at
332 Bay Street, Springfield, MA at 8:30 am to about 2:30 pm.

We are envisioning two working teams of volunteers (approx. 6-10 people in each group) to be on-site from 8:30 am to about 2:30 pm. The work will be primarily outdoors involving clean up and final preparation of the site for loam and various plantings as the ground begins to thaw and things warm up. There may be some indoor work as well but won't know that until we get closer to the date. Our house dedication is scheduled for Monday, May 23rd, so staying on schedule is really important and every effort counts.

All participants must be over the age of 18 and must complete and sign the attached volunteer waiver in order to work on our project sites. I have attached a copy for your review and to distribute to your team. Please have each volunteer from the Club bring it with them that morning or you can collect them beforehand and submit all of them at once when you arrive on site.

Masks are currently optional on our sites since the mask mandates have been rescinded. If people feel more comfortable wearing masks that's fine too.

Please remember to bring their own water bottle and any snacks to get them through the day. We will be happy to provide pizza and drinks for lunch if needed. Just let me know.

WHAT IS A ROTARY FOUNDATION SUSTAINING MEMBER?

A Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member is an individual who personally contributes $100 or more each Rotary year to the Annual Fund. These contributions also count toward Paul Harris Fellow, Multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Paul Harris Society, EREY, Major Donor, and club recognition.

Use the Club Foundation Banner Report to see your club’s Rotary Foundation Sustaining Members.

Support Rotary Foundation

Three ways to support our Rotary Foundation

Every November, we celebrate The Rotary Foundation. Your support and generous gifts to the Foundation make it possible for us to be people of action and engage in life-changing projects worldwide. Here are three ways you can help maximize the effectiveness of our year-end giving campaigns and increase the amount of good we can do:
  1. Encourage your members to make a gift to the Foundation on Giving Tuesday, which is 1 December. Share our video message
  2. Give the gift of Rotary this holiday season. Share our digital flyer with members and potential donors.
  3. Learn more about our new peer-to-peer fundraising tool, Raise for Rotary, where you can create fundraising pages that are easy to share with family and friends through social media and email.

President's Message
Maurice Powe

Welcome spring! I hope the weather will break and we can start to enjoy the season's changing in New England. I am excited to announce that we will return to serve the Friends of the Homeless on Monday, March 28, 2022. Only four people may serve at a time; please let me know if you are interested and want to attend. We will be serving on the first Monday of the month for now. If we have an overflow of interest, we may get another day.
Please join us on April 9, 2022, for our Rotary Day of Service. We will be working with the Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity to impact the Bay Street neighborhood in Springfield. Please join us as we continue to Serve to Change Lives.
